The 1.5 hour pottery workshops are the perfect taster session for beginners so you can experience getting a feel for the clay and have a fun pottery experience.

*The workshop fee covers the firing and glazing of one pottery piece. You’ll have time to make several creations, then choose your favourite to be finished for you. If you fall in love with more, extra pieces can be fired for an additional cost depending on their size. Your finished pottery will be ready for collection or shipping a few weeks after the workshop.

Groups of 1-2

I like to think of these as taster sessions. In this time we start with 5-10 minutes of hand-pinching, where you have a chance to get a really good feel for the clay as it is quite a soft clay we use. I explain the process behind making a bowl on the wheel from start to finish. I then do a demonstration on the wheel, explain the principle behind centering a piece of clay, to then drawing up on the clay to making a cylinder or bowl. You then spend the time having a really good go on the wheel and you have all the clay you should possibly need for the time.

Groups 3-4

We focus on all the above but as there are only 2 wheels in the workshop I explain in more depth about all the different hand building techniques. Then everyone takes it in turns between the workbench and the wheels.
