2 Day Pottery Workshop

With the 2 day workshops it gives people a chance to see their pieces all the way through the making process (other than the glaze). These workshops are more for people who want to have a deeper understanding to making a piece from start to finish. I would recommend people come in with more of an idea as to what they hope to achieve in the 2 days, although it’s obviously not mandatory it just gives us something to work towards.

Personalised Experiences

5 hours in total - £120pp

Session Size: 1-2 People

*The workshop fee covers the firing and glazing of two pottery pieces. You’ll have time to make several creations, then choose your favourite two to be finished for you. If you fall in love with more, extra pieces can be fired for an additional cost depending on their size. Your finished pottery will be ready for collection or shipping a few weeks after the workshop.

Day 1

We start with a deeper explanation as to the importance of clay preparation and you have a go at wedging the clay yourself. I go through some of the words that will crop up the most. I explain the principle behind making a piece from start to finish from throwing to turning/trimming, to making slip, to making/adding handles etc…

The first day is largely taken up with throwing unless there is any hand building that is required. You have a chance to really get to grips with understanding how to centre a piece clay to pulling out and drawing up. There is no limit as to how much clay you can use as all the clay is recycled and reused.

Day 2

This is when we get to bring the piece together. Whether it’s making and attaching handles, trimming the base of a bowl, adding texture…this is when you see it all come together and hopefully  a deeper appreciation for the work that goes into a handmade piece is born!
